My Morning Honey Rose Latte

February 24, 2018

I'm a sucker for a good latte.

I spend an embarrassing amount of money on them. It's my addiction and everyone knows it.

After trying so many coffee lattes and cappuccinos, I started getting into tea lattes. Less caffeine and more variety.

At my favorite tea spot on Melrose, Alfred's Tea Room, they have a tea latte called The Honey Rose Latte. It's made with Rosy Black tea, almond milk (or milk of your choice) and honey. I swear it tastes like a vanilla latte only not coffee based.

I needed something before work every morning and I don't like regular coffee. After realizing how much money I spend on coffee alone, I decided it was time to start making my own lattes.

I mean it's milk, tea, and honey... how hard could it be? If you like tea and you like lattes, you should really give this a try.

So, without further adieu, here's how to make my favorite Honey Rose Latte.

Boil Water

While it's boiling, decide the ratio of milk to tea you want. If you're looking for a latte, it's going to be more milk. If you want more tea than milk, you will ratio accordingly. Add the amount of tea it suggests for the liquid amount. I do 1 Tsp per 8 Oz of liquid.

So,  2 Tbs for 1 Cup of water and 1 Cup of almond milk in a 16 oz mug. I use the tea Alfred's sells, but you can use any black or black rose tea.

Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes in the water alone. I like a half and half ratio.

Prepare Almond Milk

Heat up 1 Cup of almond milk, preferably vanilla or home made, in a small pan.

Careful it doesn't burn. Just warm it on low heat.

If you have a milk frother, add it to that and froth your milk. (before I had one, I would just heat it in a pan and blend it in a blender)

Add 1 Tbs of honey to the tea. I like wildflower honey. But, you can use whatever honey you want.

Finally, take out the tea after it's done steeping and add the milk.

*Pro Tip: put it in a blender and add collagen powder for an extra beautifying boost!

Voila! You're done!

It's that easy.

I hope you enjoy it! Let me know how yours tasted and if you did anything differently!
