Fall is upon us. I swear, summer just flew by. A new season means new skin adventures! I've been trying a bunch of new products on my quest for even textured, clear, and glowing skin. It's a full time job just figuring out what products work for your skin...
I've been having issues with skin texture lately. Congested pores all over my chin and cheek area. My friend suggested incorporating acids into my routine.
Let's talk acids. They sound terrifying. My dad literally thought I was melting my face off when I told him I've been using acid for my blemishes. Acids are anything from hyaluronic acid to salicylic acid. Those are some of the well known and less scary ones.
I've looked into a lot of different types and it's opened up a whole universe of different acids for different functions!
Chemical peels are a HUGE help when it comes to helping clear up congested pores. So, if you have a problem with build up or closed comedones, I would add some sort of peel or acid to your regime.
1. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxy acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines with continued use.
- I have noticed rapid healing in my breakouts overnight and my skin being more clear, even, and glowy. It tingles and can burn but it's amazing. Wear sunscreen the next day after using it because it increases sensitivity to the sun. Only leave it on for 10 minutes and only use 1-2 times per week. It's helped my congested pores immensely! AND it's only $7! YES, you heard me right... $7.00
2. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA
Lactic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin. It is applies like a serum at night under moisturizers. I double this with the Caudalie Vinoperfect serum and really boost the radiance. This stuff will give you a more even texture and tone. It will help with acne scars and dark spots. It is my new staple to help clear congested pores. Plus, only $6.00!!!
3. Caudalie - Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
This isn't an acid, but I find it a great addition to using acids because it's hydrating and balancing. It helps soothe the skin when dealing with all these different acidic products. Everyone loves this serum. Well, everyone is right. It's no wonder why this is the holy grail for everyone currently. It does everything... moisturizes, evens out skin tone and skin texture, makes you glow... the list goes on. Click it to read more because I've written about it in like every blog post...
4. Goldfaden MD - Vital Boost Moisturizer
I got this in my ipsy bag and it's amazing. It brightens your skin and has hyaluronic acid in it! It's light weight, which is great for greasy skin. A great daily moisturizer in my opinion.
5. Glow Recipe - Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
This. is. fire. I love the idea of a sleeping mask, first of all. It also smells like watermelon. Plus, this branding and all the colors...they know how to pull you in... Listen to how the website describes this:
The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is a luxuriously bouncy, breathable sleeping mask that smoothes and perfects skin, overnight. This pillow-proof formula acts as a radiance-boosting hyaluronic acid face mask, formulated with soothing, amino-acid rich Watermelon Extract, hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, and pore refining AHAs that work while you sleep to gently exfoliate and clarify. It'll quickly become your go-to face mask for glowing skin.
- Again, all about the acids. And your skin will glow. It clears my skin and pores and is super helping with unevenness and acne scars.
